Kuch to Log Kahenga, Logo Ka kaam hain kehna

Kuch to Log kahenge, #Logo ka kaam hain kehna!

(Ignore the above if you do not understand Hindi)

Linkedin is flooded with posts about the

very disappointing Jaguar logo change.

Getting the elephant out of the way,

let me say that I don't like it either.

Now let's get on with this post :)

The visual accompanying this post

shows the recent Logo changes.

These are some pretty big,

popular, global names.

Do you see a trend?

A trend of simplification?

Simplification of font/style?

'Design' leaving the logo and

simple font itself becoming design.

The traditional perception

of a 'logo' has always been

a 'symbol', a design element,

not the actual name of the brand.

A few brands like SONY, Coca Cola

& many of the luxury brands had their

name as their logo but it was often stylized

to stand apart, in some or the other form/design.

But the 21st century and more specifically,

the last decade or so has seen many brands

simplifying their logo to plain simple text/font.

Google justified their simplification as a factor of

easier and more efficient display on mobile screen.

Don't think other logo designers had that concern.

But the move to simplified named logos is very real.

So no need to criticize Jaguar for their new and simple

logo which is trying hard to change their image/character.

Who knows? they might have revamped their brand image

and the new logo is in sync with and reflects the brand image.

Who knows? the cars coming from Jaguar stable will now be

more stylized and funky, targetted at genZ/Alpha rather than

being high end luxury cars meant for a narrow target audience.

Time will tell.

Change is inevitable.

You can go with the flow of change.

or you can create your own change.

And let others follow your change.

Branding and Marketing is changing.

Just like Leadership in Corporate World

is changing and transforming significantly.

Many mid and senior management professionals

get stuck in their career, because they are unable

to understand, comprehend and internalize these

changes and remain rooted in old leadership styles.

They need to realise this and take concrete action.

Mentoring and Coaching are effective ways to change.

Someone experienced needs to help you identify your

Leadership Blind Spots and event deconstruct Leadership

in the context of this day and age of new business models

and a modern workforce which requires a very different way

of leading and influencing, with flexible working & AI impact.

Leadership is evolving and not many professionals are in sync.
