A snippet grabbed from a yahoo-group discussion ...   ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------   I recall some years ago I was going to drop our son for his 10th boards. He was tense, jawline clenched. I thought he is preparing to go into a battlefield.   I asked him what he wanted to do in 11th. He stated he wanted science so that he could choose between being a software engineer and a merchant naval officer.   I asked about the cut off marks, to which he replied that he needed 65% to get science. I then asked him if he could secure 66% (1% as cushion).   He replied in the affirmative. I then told him to go ahead and get it. He secured well beyond that.   The amazing thing was that I could see the tension just disappear and his body language also became totally relaxed.   He was under the misnomer that we (his parents) wanted him to secure over 90%. We just clarified things to him and it made a...

A Difficult Judgment: Prayer and Belief :)

My best friend shared another humour touched piece ...here you go ...     In a small town, a person decided to open up his Bar business, which was right opposite to the Temple.  The Temple its congregation started a campaign to block the Bar from opening with petitions and prayed daily against his business.   Work progressed.  However, when it was almost complete and was about to open a few days later, a strong lightning struck the Bar and it was burnt to the ground.   The temple folks were rather smug in their outlook after that, till the Bar owner sued the Temple authorities on the grounds that the Temple through its congregation prayers was ultimately responsible for the demise of his bar shop, either through direct or indirect actions or means.   In its reply to the court, the temple vehemently denied all responsibility or any connection that their prayers were reasons to the bar shop's demise.   As the case made its way into ...

Perception, Choices and LifeStyle

My best friend, Shraddha, forwarded this nice piece ... a very interesting read ...    --------------------------------------------- A man stood at a metro station in Washington DC and started playing the violin; it was a cold January morning.   He played six Bach pieces for about 45 minutes. During that time, since it was rush hour, it was calculated that a thousand people went through the station, most of them on their way to work. Three minutes went by and a middle aged man noticed there was a musician playing. He slowed his pace and stopped for a few seconds and then hurried up to meet his schedule. A minute later, the violinist received his first dollar tip: a woman threw the money in the till and without stopping continued to walk. A few minutes later, someone leaned against the wall to listen to him, but the man looked at his watch and sarted to walk again. Clearly he was late for work. The one who paid the most attention was a 3 year old boy. His mother tag...

Resource Utilization ... of a different kind ..

Nikhil forwarded this beautiful piece to our NITIE friend circle .. I label such articles / stories as "Must Read and Mast Read" ------------- Buddha, one day, was on deep thought about the worldly activities and the ways of instilling goodness in human. The following is the text of conversation between him and his disciple. One of his disciples approached him and said humbly " Oh my teacher ! While you are so much concerned about the world and others, why don't you look in to the welfare and needs of your own disciples also." Budhha : "OK.. Tell me how I can help you" Disciple : "Master! My attire is worn out and is beyond the decency to wear the same. Can I get a new one, please." Buddha found the robe indeed was in a bad condition which needed replacement. He asked the store keeper to give the disciple a new robe to wear on. The disciple thanked Buddha and retired to his room. Though he met his disciple's requiremen...
