A Women's Day after-thought - Different Strokes for Different Folks
A Women's Day after-thought - Different Strokes for Different Folks
All over the world, Women Leaders have been proving themselves and reaching the helm of businesses leading them to success and glory.
A lot is being done by Organizations to promote women leaders and a lot still needs to be done.
Far too many conversations need to become mainstream. People (both, men and women) need to re-learn the new-age concepts of diversity, equality, inclusiveness and much more.
It's a different world we live in and Awareness and Education is key to survive and thrive in this new world order.
Women's Day and other such initiatives will also have to redefine themselves as women in different parts of the world, different economic bands, different roles (home-maker, single mom, business owner, salaried individual, a CXO, and many others) ... all have very different challenges and need wider conversations.
The Empowerment for each group in different circumstances is very different. In some places, equal pay is the conversation, while in other places, basic education for the girl child is the need.
Some places, women are fighting for their right to step outside of their homes while in other places, their fight has taken them to the highest echelons of the corporate world.
On one hand, we have Women who are leading countries as President/Prime Minister; and we also have women who don't get jobs simply because of gender bias or career gap due to marriage or maternity.
Different battles in diverse battlegrounds will require different strategies.
Women Leaders also have the responsibility of inspiring other women as well as creating a supportive environment that enables and empowers other women.
Men have a responsibility too but let's focus on the women and women-for-women conversation today.
If you are a woman reading this post, it would be great if you can share in comments below or as a LinkedIn post ... Your story and how you were inspired by a women ... and/or simply, what are you doing to inspire other women, how are you empowering other women.
Let your story inspire both, men and women and bring about awareness that is the foundation of empowerment and where needed, upliftment.
The ultimate goal, as I have heard many strong women say, is the scenario where we don't need a Women's Day at all.
