The New NLP of India

NLP is know to most as Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) - a pseudoscientific approach to communication, personal development, and psychotherapy created by Richard Bandler and John Grinder in California, United States, in the 1970s. NLP's creators claim there is a connection between neurological processes (neuro-), language (linguistic) and behavioural patterns learned through experience (programming), and that these can be changed to achieve specific goals in life (Source: Wikipedia ) ... This article is NOT about THAT NLP !! :)

Now let's talk about the New NLP of India. If you haven't guessed it yet, I am talking about the recently unveiled National Logistics Policy of India.

While it is always boring to go through the policy papers or strategy docs; videos make it easier to consume information. And once a simplified form of communication introduces you to the core subject and salient points, its no longer boring to go through long documents or policy papers.

I found this particular video very informative. If the new NLP interests you, this video might be a good start - https://youtu.be/M9bhCVqGaOI

The video above not just gives an overview but also highlights some challenges to Logistics in India ... which is an opportunity for large/medium/small businesses as well as start-ups. The Government is a policy making and enabling body ... the private sector comes in and makes the whole initiative a grand success.

On a side, but important, note: the video is a great example of good+great and effective communication. Converting an otherwise dull, boring subject (or document) into an interesting communication is an art, a skill that all should continually develop. Organizations and Government bodies should scout for such communicators and make best use of their capabilities. sending your message across in the most effective manner is a critical and cruicial part of successful business strategy.

The HOW of communication is of even greater importance than the WHAT. Most people know what to communication and fail at HOW to communicate and there lies the biggest failures in communication. (A quick case in point being "Diversity Inclusion and Equality" getting the acrnonym "DIE" rather than "IDEAS" which would have been "Inclusion, Diversity and Equality Appreciation and Sensitivity")

Don't be surprised at this post related to Logistics coming from me. having worked in the Logistics / Supply Chain Team at Landmark Group for 4+ years and also a short stint at Alshaya Group (while employed with Change Management Group) - being a Change Manager for supply chain projects. Change Management consulting enabled me to work in different industries and different functions in different countries .. and I have always loved that part of the job. Kept things interesting and new/fresh :) Never a dull moment in the Change Mgmt World !!

I am sure there might be other videos / policy summary / articles / presentations etc which talk about the New NLP of India - if you have come across any, pls share in the comments. Increasing the awareness and understanding of NLP all around will make it more effective as more and more organizations and individuals will contribute to it.

It will also be interesting to see the role played by institutes like NITIE ( National Institute of Industrial Engineering) which have been the centre of supply chain education and thought leadership in India. And on the other side, equally interesting to see how well the big "logistics" giants like Amazon, Flipkart and the so many large logistics players of India support the new NLP and contribute to it .. since they are ahead in technology terms but need the infrastructure improvements for even further leaps and bounds which come from the government.
