DON'T STOP taking Notes

Image
DON'T STOP taking Notes now that AI tools are available which can do it for You.  DON'T write what the speaker is saying or the summary - the AI tool will do that for you In this day and age, there are tools to record the speaker, get the transcript and even get the summary.  You should write what you understand and the other thoughts that are triggered based on your understanding and interpretation of what you just heard.  YOUR NOTES are something that are personal to you and cannot be produced by an AI tool.  They are uniquely useful to you so don't substitute your notes by an AI tool.  Make your own notes AND use the AI tools for the transcript/summary of what was said.    What Happens when you make notes / take notes ...  - Taking notes enhances learning by actively engaging various faculties, enhancing focus and understanding.  - Writing information down helps embed it into memory and supports better recall through visual aids and...

The term 'rejection email' is factually incorrect and just wrong

Image
The term 'rejection email' is factually incorrect and just wrong.  We humans want to take shortcuts in language and for want of a better word, we compromise on 'nearest fit' sacrificing meaning and impact.  The email that informs that a candidate has not been selected got termed as a 'rejection' email for the economy of words without consideration of how people view 'rejection'  Even if the email does not use the word 'reject/rejection'; the norm of the email being called a 'rejection email' strikes immediately when the email appears.  A series of back to back 'rejection emails' will also lead to 'Learned Helplessness' (search for it on Youtube and watch the short 5 min video of a class teacher inducing helplessness in students in a matter of minutes)  Using the right word is important. Words are Powerful and Potent.   I coach mid and senior management professionals and my advice is simple ... Don't Be Yourself. They...

The 80-hour Work Week

Image
I recommend working for 80 hours a week !! 40 Hours for Your Employer ... your work, your livelihood, your income source 40 Hours on YOURSELF ... your growth, your learning, your health (mental and physical), your relationships That's the #WorkLifeBalance you should be aiming for (rather than commenting or debating about what some Leaders are saying about working hours) GrowthHack: You can reduce that 80 hours to 70 or 60 or even less WHEN you can merge the two - working on your personal growth while you work for your employer :) Think about it !!! #CoachHemant #WorkLifeIntegration #GrowthMindset By the way, January is over and if you haven't started yet on achieving your goals OR given up on them already .... don't lose hope. You can restart and refresh that journey. Let's talk in case you need the nudge :)

What's Your 2024 WOTY??

Image
Every year, leading dictionaries and linguistic bodies of the world pick out a word (after considerable consideration of many choices) and christen it the Word of the Year (WOTY). This exercise is supposed to give us a view of the general intellectual consciousness of the world. So here's to the 2024 WOTY's by different publications.  "brain rot"  deterioration of a person’s mental or intellectual state, as a result of overconsumption of material (now particularly online content) - named the 2024 Word of the Year by Oxford University Press  “Manifest” to dream or will something into existence, has been named the word of 2024 by Cambridge Dictionary "Enshittification"  the gradual deterioration of a service of product — named the 2024 Word of the Year by Macquarie Dictionary. Are you a Sky-Diver

Image
Does engaging in a sky-diving experience once in your life make you a Sky Diver? I saw 'Sky Diver' on a LinkedIn profile, and I am sure the gentleman is not a professional sky diver but did it on one of his touristy trips.  Have you come across people in your workplace or professional network who have defined themselves as something or someone based on a singular instance rather than being actual practitioners? Think ... brainstormers, problem-solvers, quick-learners, creative thinkers, thought leaders, system architects, strategic explorers .. and so on !  And the mute question here is, "What do you do with such people?"  Do you trust them in whatever they say to you?  Or do you now view everything that they claim with a healthy scepticism?  What about YOU?  Have you engaged in such 'sky-diving' claims before?  And what is that doing to your own credibility in the eyes of others?  Do they also exercise some skepticism about you?  #JustAsking...
